要出國了，到機場後首先映入眼簾的，會看到幾個一定要認識的重要單字：
security 安檢
immigration 移民
customs 海關
至於「通過」這些區域要怎麼說呢？只要用 go through 這個片語就可以了，你可以這樣說：
go through security 通過安檢
go through immigration 出境 / 入境
go through customs 通過海關
大部分國家的出入境跟海關都是分開的，但在美國是直接把這兩個部門放一起，裡面的審查人員又稱為 CBP Officers (Customs and Border Patrol Officers)。
接下來，就準備開始「入境查驗」。抵達查驗櫃檯的第一個問題，就要請你拿出護照囉～
1. May I have your passport? 請出示你的護照
回答： Here you go. / Here you are. (在這裡)
Here. (這裡)

2. What’s the purpose of your visit? 你此行的目的是什麼？

如果你是去打工度假，而且持有打工度假簽證的話
I am here for ~ a working holiday. (我是來打工度假的)
I have a visa for it. (我有打工度假簽證)
詢問來訪目的之後，海關通常會接著問一些和你個人有關的問題，例如：預計待多久、待在哪裡等等⋯⋯。面對這些問題，有兩個小訣竅，輕鬆應對：
◎「5W1H」
What (什麼) / Where (哪裡) / When (何時) / Who (誰)/ Which (哪一個) / How (如何)
◎建議每個回答都要「具體且簡潔」
查驗人員問這些細節，是要確保能留下正確的資訊，以免未來有無法追查的情況。
聽不清楚時可以說Excuse me? 或Pardon? 請對方再說一次。
3. How long do you intend to stay? 你打算待多久？
For + 你預計待的時間長度. (待⋯⋯)
For three days / seven days / one week. (待三天 / 七天 / 一週)
4. Where are you flying from? 你從哪裡出發的？
From + 城市名 . (從⋯⋯出發)
From Taipei / Toronto / Vancouver. (從台北 / 多倫多 / 溫哥華)
5. Are you traveling alone? 你自己一個人來嗎？
Yes. (是)
No, I am with ~ . (不，我和⋯⋯ 一起來)
No, I am with my girlfriend. (不，我和我女朋友一起來)
my friends / family 朋友/家人

6. How much currency/cash are you carrying? 你身上帶多少現金？
I am carrying ~ dollars. (我帶了⋯⋯元)
I am carrying 2,000 US dollars. (我帶了兩千元美金)
I am carrying 60,000 NT dollars. (我帶了六萬元台幣)
◎補充數字「萬」的唸法。
在英文中，是以「hundred (百)、thousand (千)、million (百萬)」為常見的數字單位。因此，並沒有特定單字來說「萬」這個字，而是用 thousand 來表示。所以英文中的「一萬」，是 ten thousand (「十個一千」的概念)
至於講「幾十萬」的時候，則是用 hundred thousand 來表示。
2,000 ➡️two thousand
10,000 ➡️ten thousand
60,000 ➡️sixty thousand
200,000 ➡️two hundred thousand
7. Where will you be staying? 你打算待在哪裡？
I am staying at +地方名 . (我會待在⋯⋯)
I am staying at the Four Seasons Hotel . (我會待在四季飯店)
範例：I am staying with my friend Eda. She lives in the city center next to the train station.
(我會和朋友 Eda 待在一起，她住在市中心，就在火車站隔壁)
8. What’s your occupation? / What do you do? 你的職業是什麼？
I am a/an +職業名. (我是⋯⋯)
I am an office worker / a YouTuber / a teacher / a student.
(我是上班族 / YouTuber / 老師 / 學生)
I am currently unemployed. (我現在沒有工作)
I just graduated. (我才剛畢業)
在查驗人員的問題問得差不多之後，他們會拍攝你的大頭照和收集你的指紋資料，才會放行讓你通過，讓我們先來認識幾個可能會使用到的單字：
一般我們說手指是fingers， 是*大拇指(thumb) 以外的其他四指。
*食指是index finger。其餘三指分別是:
*middle finger 小指
*ring finger 無名指
*little finger/pinky 小指
*fingerprint 指紋
*nail指甲
*knuckles指關節
*palm手掌、掌心
*toe腳趾
fingerprint reader / fingerprint scanner 指紋辨識器
最後，查驗人員會請你配合指示行動：
Please place your index fingers on the fingerprint reader.
請將食指放在指紋辨識器上面。
I’m going to take your photo. 我要拍照了
Please face the camera. 請把臉朝向機器
接下來「過海關」的部分。
海關人員會想了解你是否攜帶任何需要報關的物品，例如：肉品、蔬菜等等。如果有的話則需如實回答，並填寫相關表格。
9. Do you have anything to declare? 你有任何需要申報的東西嗎？
答：No. (沒有)
I brought ~ . (我帶了⋯⋯)
I brought beef / vegetables . (我帶了牛肉 / 蔬菜)
所以在回答前多練習幾次，就比較不會緊張卡住囉～
